Women’s Basketball Picks Up A Pair of Wins; Edmond Earns MEAC Weekly Award and more

WASHINGTON (December 18, 2019) – This week's Bison Brief edition features news from men's and women's basketball and more.

MEN'S BASKETBALL
 
Saturday (Dec. 14), the Howard University men's basketball team fell to the Appalachian State Mountaineers, 81-59, inside Burr Gymnasium. Charles Williams' (Richmond, Va.), 17 points, and Nate Garvey (Nanuet, N.Y.), 11 points, paced the Bison's offensive attack.
 
Howard will continue their four-game homestand by welcoming Regent to Burr Gymnasium Wednesday, Dec. 18 at 7 p.m. The theme for the night is DMV Night and admission is FREE to all.
 
WOMEN'S BASKETBALL
 
On Dec. 14, the Howard University women's basketball team cruised to a 91-42 victory over Niagara inside Burr Gymnasium. Senior guard Sarah Edmond (Freeport, N.Y.) led the attack, posting a season-best 25 points on 9-of-12 shooting, including 5-of-6 from downtown.
 
Two nights later (Dec. 16), the Bison overcame a 13-point deficit to defeat East Carolina, 67-51, thanks to a 42-point second half outburst. Edmond filled the stat sheet, finishing with a game-high 17 points, nine boards, four assists and four steals.
 
Tuesday (Dec. 17), the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) revealed its women's basketball weekly honors where Edmond took home a share of the league's top award.
 
HU continues its road swing in Fairfax, Va., where the George Mason Patriots await. Saturday's (Dec. 21) tipoff is set for noon on ESPN+.
