WASHINGTON (December 1, 2019) – The NCAA Volleyball Committee unveiled its 64-team bracket where Howard University drew No. 6 Pittsburgh in the NCAA Women's Volleyball First Round. The announcement came Sunday night on ESPNU.
Howard takes on the Panthers Friday, Dec. 6 in Pittsburgh, Pa., inside the Petersen Events Center. First serve is set for 7 p.m.
HU (20-12) won its fifth consecutive Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference Title, 12
th overall, after taking down rival Morgan State in a five set classic (24-26, 37-35, 17-25, 25-23, 15-12) at Burr Gymnasium.
Overall, this will be Howard's sixth NCAA appearance.
This season, Pitt (29-1) went undefeated in the Atlantic Coastal Conference (ACC) and currently rides an 18-match winning streak. The Panthers are ranked No. 2 in the latest American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Top 25 poll.
Cincinnati and VCU will also be in Pittsburgh where they face each other Friday at 4 p.m.
The winners of Friday's matches will meet in the second round Saturday (Dec. 7).
