Howard Volleyball Back Home for Another Set of Rematches

Bison meet Delaware State Friday; HU hosts Maryland Eastern Shore Sunday

WASHINGTON (November 7, 2019) – Howard University women's volleyball team returns to The Burr for another set of rematches.
 
Friday (Nov. 8), the Bison meet Delaware State (DSU) at 6 p.m. Two days later (Nov. 10), HU hosts Maryland Eastern Shore at 1 p.m.

LAST TIMEOUT
 
Last weekend, Howard split in Baltimore, going 1-1 overall.
 
On Nov. 1, the Bison suffered its first conference loss at the hand of Morgan State in straight sets (24-26, 20-25, 11-25) inside the Hill Field House.
 
Two days later (Nov. 3), HU wrapped up the weekend with a five-set victory (21-25, 26-24, 27-25, 22-25, 15-12) over Coppin State inside the Physical Education Complex Arena.
 
MATCHUP PREVIEWS
 
HOWARD
 
Howard (13-12, 10-1 MEAC) returns home looking to clinch the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Northern Division crown. A pair of victories over the Lady Hornets and Hawks give HU an inside track with only two league matches remaining.
 
Senior Kira Porter (Lake Tahoe, Nev.) leads the MEAC with a .359 hitting percentage while freshman Tamar Wells (Apopka, Fla.) ranks seventh (.250).
 
DELAWARE STATE
 
Since their last encounter with HU, Delaware State (10-16, 5-6 MEAC) has went 4-4 in league play where they are tied for fourth with route 13 rival Maryland Eastern Shore. With only four conference matches remaining, DSU sits outside looking in at the MEAC Tournament.
 
Offensively, Sydney Armbrister and Sydney Lewis rank second and third, respectively, in hitting percentage.
 
MARYLAND EASTERN SHORE
 
Before visiting The Burr, Maryland Eastern Shore (10-16, 5-6 MEAC) goes to Norfolk State Friday (Nov. 8). Entering the weekend, the Hawks have won two-in-a-row and hold the No. 4 spot in the MEAC Northern Division standings.
 
Eastern Shore comes in as the league's top hitting squad (.198).
 
UPCOMING SEASON
 
Tuesday (Nov. 12), Howard goes to Norfolk, Va., for their final road test of the year at Norfolk State. Match time is slated for 6 p.m.
