NORFOLK, Va. (November 20, 2019) – The Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) revealed its 2019 women's volleyball all-academic team where Howard University saw five Bison named to the squad. The announcement came Wednesday afternoon.
 
Among the honorees included Busisiwe Banda (Cedar Park, Texas), Indira Dandridge (Miami), Jurnee Tipton (Ypsilanti, Mich.), Ana Williams (Baker, La.) and Fola Wilson (Minneapolis).
 
"I am pleased to congratulate our women's volleyball student-athletes for maintaining a 3.0 or better grade point average," said MEAC Commissioner Dennis E. Thomas. "I would also like to thank all the people who assisted with the academic and athletic success of these student-athletes."
 
The conference honored 83 student-athletes from the league's 11 institutions who achieved academic success during the 2018-19 academic year.
 
MEAC sophomore, junior and senior student-athletes with a 3.0 or better cumulative grade point average, as well as transfer student-athletes who have been in residence at the institution for at least one year, are eligible for All-Academic accolades.

Howard's quest for their fifth consecutive MEAC title begins Friday (Nov. 22) when they take on No. 4 (southern division) South Carolina State. The action starts at 2 p.m. inside Burr Gymnasium.
 
On Nov. 22-24, the 2019 MEAC Volleyball Championship will be held inside Burr Gymnasium. Competition begins Friday (Nov. 22) at 11 a.m. with the first of four quarterfinal matches. Saturday's (Nov. 23) semifinals start at 5 p.m., and Sunday's (Nov. 24) championship finale gets underway at 8 p.m. and broadcast live on ESPNU and ESPN3.
 
Admission for the tournament is $10 each day and $25 for all three days.
