LAST TIMEOUT
Sunday (Nov. 17), the Bison secured their first home win of the season after running past Saint Peter's, 92-80, inside Burr Gymnasium.
Five Bison scored in double figures, led by freshman forward
Brooklyn Fort-Davis (Chicago) and veteran guard
Sarah Edmond (Freeport, N.Y.). The Chicago native recorded her first career double-double with 16 points and 13 boards while Edmond added 16 points and three steals in the win.
MATCHUP PREVIEW
Wednesday's showdown will be the eighth meeting between Howard and Loyola, dating back to 2002, with the Greyhounds leading the series, 4-3.
"Loyola is a tough team that plays hard and has a tremendous ability to shoot the three," said Howard women's basketball head coach
Ty Grace. "We need to be ready to close out on [their] shooters and run them off the three-point line. If we contain penetration and rebound as well, we will be in a really good position [to win]."
HOWARD
HU (2-2) looks to get over .500 while winning consecutive games for the first time this season. Entering Wednesday, Howard tops the league in total blocks while ranking eighth nationally.
Offensively, the trio of Edmond, senior
Ayonna Williams (Washington) and junior
Jayla Thornton (Newark, N.J.) spearhead the Bison attack, combining for more than 41 ppg.
LOYOLA (MD)
Loyola (1-2) grabbed its first win of the season over Fairleigh Dickinson, 75-46. Like HU, the Greyhounds begin a five-game road trip and will not return home until Dec. 20.
Ashley Hunter leads the club in scoring (10.0 ppg) while Stephanie Karcz fills the stat line, posting 8.7 rpg, 8.0 ppg and 4.3 spg.
UPCOMING SCHEDULE
Sunday (Nov. 24), HU goes to Hempstead, N.Y. to face Hofstra. Tip-off is slated for 6 p.m.
