NORFOLK, Va. (November 11, 2019) – Howard University's senior
Kira Porter (Lake Tahoe, Nev.) earned Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Volleyball Co-Defensive Specialist of the Week for her tremendous performances versus Delaware State (Nov. 8) and Maryland Eastern Shore (Nov. 10). The announcement came Monday afternoon.
The Nevada native averaged 1.33 blocks per set in helping Howard to a pair of conference wins. She opened the weekend with three total blocks in the three-set sweep over Delaware State. Two days later, Porter produced five total blocks against the Hawks.
Offensively, Porter had 11 total kills in the two-match span.

Jurnee Tipton (Ypsilanti, Mich.) and newcomer
Kayla Diaz (Nanuet, N.Y.) received honorable mention.
Bethune-Cookman (B-CU) junior Faith Landreneaux and Morgan State (MSU) sophomore Zoe McBride were named MEAC Co-Players of the Week. MSU's Roi Wallace won MEAC Setter of the Week. B-CU's Alleah Dallas was named MEAC Rookie of the Week while teammate senior Shayla Eugene shared MEAC Co-Defensive Specialist of the Week with Porter.

Tuesday (Nov. 12), Howard goes to Norfolk, Va., for their final road test of the year at Norfolk State. Match time is slated for 6 p.m.
