Howard University Mourns Loss of Fallen Bison, Jose White

Former Bison standout dies at the age of 46

WASHINGTON (October 29, 2019) - The Howard University Athletics family recently lost a member in Jose White. White, 46, was a standout performer for the Bison football team from 1992-94 and was a member of the 1993 team that finished 11-0 during the regular season and captured the Black National championship.

A native of Washington, D.C. and graduate of H.D. Woodson High School, White went on to have his best season in 1994, being named the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Defensive Player of the Year and first team all conference.

During his career at Howard, White was known for his ability to rush the passer; thus, he ranks 10th all-time in MEAC history with 29 for his career.

He was drafted in the seventh round of the NFL draft by the Minnesota Vikings and went on to play four years, including three with the Jacksonville Jaguars.

White' services will take place on Wednesday, October 30 from 10 a.m. until 12 noon at Grace Cathedral, 6107 Seat Pleasant Drive, Capitol Heights, MD 20743.
