WASHINGTON, D.C. – Big plays by Norfolk State University put a damper on Howard University's Homecoming festivities as the Bison fell to the Spartans 49-21, Saturday afternoon, in the sold-out Greene Stadium.
Howard fell to (1-6 overall, 1-2 conference), Norfolk State improved to (2-5, 1-2).
The Bison traded jabs in the first half, going toe to toe with Spartans but the Norfolk State's defense threw a haymaker at the end of the first half that left Howard stunned. Howard was held scoreless in the second half as NSU slowly put the game away scoring 28-unanswered points.
The Spartans intercepted two passes and notched a season-high five sacks.
In the second half, Howard managed 92-total yards and punted four times out of five of their second-half possession.
Howard amassed 221 rushing yards to Norfolk State 272. Norfolk recorded a game-high 649 total-yards.
Howard starting quarterback
Quinton Williams recorded 122 yards through the air, on 11-of-23 passing, threw a touchdown and two interceptions. Williams also rushed for a season-high 62 yards.
Running back
Dedrick Parson recorded a season-high 119 yards rushing yards and a touchdown.
On defense,
Ray Williams paced the defense recording a team-high ten tackles (seven solo tackles).

The Bison will have a much needed break, entering into their bye-week before, heading back on the road to face North Carolina A&T on October 26. Howard has played five of their seven games on the road this season defeating Delaware State for their only win of the season.
