Bison looking to get back on track against The Mount

WASHINGTON (September 11, 2018) – After seeing their match versus Yale cancelled due to inclement weather, Coach Phillip Gyau and the Howard University Men's Soccer to look get back on track as they visit Mount St. Mary's in a midweek clash. Match time is set for 7 p.m. in Emmittsburg, Md.

LAST TIMEOUT
 
On Sept. 5, after more than a week away from the field, the Bison could not dust off the rust as they were blanked by Navy, 4-0, in Annapolis, Md.
 
MATCHUP PREVIEW
 
ALL-TIME SERIES
 
This will be the 22nd meeting between Howard and Mount St. Mary's with The Mount leading the all-time series, 9-7-5. Both clubs have not met since 2012, but HU has won the last three matchups.
 
HOWARD
 
Howard (1-2) looks to go 2-0 against Northeast Conference (NEC) foes this season. HU opened their 2018 campaign with a dramatic 2-1 victory over Bryant at Greene Stadium. Since then, the Bison have dropped two straight at LaSalle, 2-1, and at Navy, 4-0. Senior forward Victor Guirma (New Paltz, N.Y.) leads the squad with two goals, and junior midfielder Andres Gomez (Silver Spring, Md.) has the other for the Bison. Junior goalkeeper Carlos Caro (Silver Spring, Md.) has posted a .500 save percentage and 2.33 goals against average in three starts between the pipes.
 
MOUNT ST. MARY'S
 
Mount St. Mary's continues its search their first win of the season (0-3-1). In their last outing, The Mount tied at American, 1-1. Elias Ordonez and Joel Tshiani are the two Mount players with goals on the season, while Jonathan Fawole and Jonathan Godette have an assist apiece. Bobby Edwards has started all four games in goal, posting a .692 save percentage and 1.89 goals against average.
 
UPCOMING SCHEDULE

On Sept. 16, Howard continues its three-match road swing in Brooklyn, N.Y. where the St. Francis Terriers await. Sunday's match starts 1 p.m.
