WASHINGTON (February 24, 2018) – Coach
Ty Grace and the Howard University Women's Basketball Team dominated the glass to hold off the Delaware State (DSU) Hornets, 78-70, in a Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) matchup at Burr Gymnasium.
The win snapped a three-game losing streak for the Bison (11-16, 7-7 MEAC) while securing a winning home record for the second straight season (8-5).
As a team, the Bison outrebounded the Hornets by 20, 53-33, including 19 offensive rebounds, which led to 15 second chance points. Howard also did a great job sharing the basketball, racking up 17 assists.
Sophomore

Myles scored 10 of her 14 points in the third quarter to help the Bison build a twelve-point lead but were unable to put the Hornets away. Myles also grabbed five rebounds in the period, which allowed HU to get some easy buckets.
Delaware State continued to hang around for much of the fourth quarter, pulling within a one-possession game after a three-pointer by Ryan Jones with 5:47 left in the contest, 67-64. Sophomore
Ayonna Williams responded with a layup of her own and the Hornets would never get any closer.
Second-year guard

Before Saturday's game, HU recognized senior
Tajzhane Dopson for her hard work and dedication on and off the court on Senior Day. The Brooklyn native finished her afternoon with eight points, four dimes, and two boards in the victory.
Looking to build some momentum heading into the MEAC tournament, Howard started the game fast, taking a 12-0 lead with 6:17 left in the quarter before the Hornets got on the board. DSU countered by going on an 18-4 run to end the quarter.
Freshman
Jayla Thornton got HU going in the second quarter by knocking down three straight triples to stretch the Bison lead back to nine before the Hornets rallied to take a 35-33 advantage at halftime.
Delaware State fell to 5-22 overall (4-10 MEAC). Najai Pollard and Lanayjha each had a game-high 27 points in the loss.
