MATCHUP PREVIEWS

HOWARD

HU (8-21, 5-8 MEAC) enters the weekend seeking to get back on track before the conference tourney. Howard has won four of their six home games in league play. Freshman RJ Cole and sophomore Charles Williams provide the one-two punch, combining for more than 43 points per game. Cole leads the league in scoring (23.7 ppg) and assists (5.8 apg) whereas Williams adds 19.6 points. The duo has also combined for more than 150 3-pointers.

"We got to get back to what we do well, which is making shots and getting some stops," said Nickelberry. "That's the game plan for us every game. We must do a better job in putting the ball in the basket. When we score in the 70s and 80s, we give ourselves a chance. The last couple games we've been in the 60s, which doesn't give us a good chance to win. We must get to the 70s and 80s and get some stops. We have to put the ball in our better player's hands and win out."

DELAWARE STATE

On Feb. 22, Delaware State (3-25, 1-12 MEAC) announced that head coach Keith Walker was relieved of their duties after being informed that his contract will not be renewed for next season. Keith Johnson, DSU Associate Men's Head Coach, has been appointed as interim head coach for the remainder of the 2017-18 season. Recently, the Hornets snapped a 21-game losing streak while earning their first D-I victory of the season versus Coppin State, 69-51.

NORFOLK STATE

NSU (11-17, 9-4 MEAC) sits fifth in the league standings and a half game behind rival Hampton (10-4). Over the past 11 games, Norfolk State is shooting 46-percent overall and 39-percent from 3-point range, averaging 78.3 points per game. In the last 10 games, the opposition has shot 37.3 percent overall and 31.3 from deep.

LAST TIMEOUT

Over the weekend, HU camp up empty in their road swing in North Carolina.

On Feb. 17, Howard had a tale of two halves as they were unable to overcome their first half shooting woes, falling on the road at North Carolina A&T State, 83-69, inside the Corbett Sports Center. Cole led all scorers with a game-high 21 points.

Two nights later (Feb. 19), the Bison ran into a hot shooting North Carolina Central squad on nationally televised ESPNU. HU fell to the Eagles, 83-66, inside McDougald-McLendon Arena. Williams recorded 18 points in 36 minutes of action.

UPCOMING SCHEDULE

On March 1, Howard finishes the regular season at Coppin State. Game-time is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
