GREENSBORO, N.C. (February 17, 2018) – Howard University Women's Basketball team was unable to find its shot as they lost at North Carolina A&T State (NCAT), 91-53, inside the Corbett Sports Center.
HU (10-15, 6-6 MEAC) shot only 29-percent (18-of-62) from the floor, including 22-percent (4-of-18) from long range.
Sophomore
Sarah Edmond led the Bison with 11 points while second-year center
Jayla Myles chipped in 10 points in the loss.
Both squads were deadlocked at 10 in the first quarter until the Aggies outscored HU, 13-6, and took a seven-point advantage after one, 23-16.
NCAT opened the second period on a 9-0 spurt and extended its lead to double-digits, 32-16. Howard was unable to find their shot in the quarter, shooting only 20-percent (3-of-15). North Carolina A&T State took advantage and outscored the Bison 18-7 in the second.
Sophomore
Ayonna Williams filled the stat despite going 0-of-9 from the floor. The D.C. product dished out a career-high nine dimes, along with seven points and seven boards.
NCAT (16-8, 11-1 MEAC) picked up the season sweep over Howard, 2-0. Kala Green scored a game-high 19 points. North Carolina A&T State produced 48 points off the bench, led by Cinia McCray and Alexus Lessears combining for 29 points in the win.
Monday (Feb. 19), the Bison travel to Durham, N.C. where the North Carolina Central Lady Eagles await. Tip-off is set for 4 p.m.
