GREENSBORO, N.C. (February 16, 2018) – Howard University Softball team dropped its twinbill on Day One of the Aggie Invitational. HU fell to Cleveland State (CSU), 4-3, then lost to the host team North Carolina A&T State (NCAT).
In game one, the Bison produced three runs on six hits. Redshirt
Mackenzi Steele registered a multi-hit game, going 2-of-3 with a double.
Newcomer
Breanna Robinson put the Bison ahead early with a two-run blast to left field, 2-0, but CSU sliced the deficit in half after an inning of play, 2-1.
Bottom three, Cleveland State's Macy Kaisk delivered a game-tying RBI-double to center, 2-2.
Second-year infielder
Kamryn Tillman gave the Bison a one-run lead with a RBI-double, 3-2, but CSU tied the game in the bottom six, 3-3.
Both squads went into extras where the Vikings' Mel Woodard manufactured the game-winning RBI-triple.
In the nightcap, HU was limited to only three scattered hits.
NCAT scored five runs in the first five innings, but Robinson produced a sac fly to right field, bringing home
Jocelyn Avera, 5-1.
Tomorrow (Feb. 18), the Bison take on Maryland Eastern Shore in a neutral site contest. First pitch is set for noon.
