LAST TIMEOUT
Sunday (Dec. 16), Howard dropped a tough bout on the road at Fordham, 74-67, inside the Rose Hill Gym.
Despite the outcome, sophomore guard
RJ Cole (Union, N.J.) made history by becoming the fastest Bison to reach 1,000 points in program history (44 games).
Three Bison recorded double-figures, led by Cole with 18 points. Third-year guard
Charles Williams (Richmond, Va.) netted 16 points while grabbing seven boards in the loss.
MATCHUP PREVIEW
HOWARD
HU (6-5) enters Thursday's showdown looking to break its five-game skid away from The Burr. After grabbing a big road win at UMass, the Bison have been unsuccessful in their last five tries.
"We have to excel on the road," said Howard Men's Basketball head coach
Kevin Nickelberry. "We compete, but there's moments where we allow teams to go on a run. We must match their intensity for us to win."
Currently, Howard owns the best overall record in the conference while producing the league's top trio of guards in Cole, Williams, and redshirt junior
Chad Lott (Shreveport, La.). So far this season, the three Bison have accounted for 62-percent of HU's scoring.
BALL STATE
Ball State (7-4) returns to Worthen Arena where they are 3-0 this season and 19-2 in their past 21 games. Furthermore, the Cardinals have not lost a non-conference home game since Dec. 3, 2016 (IUPUI).
"Ball State likes to run," Nickelberry added. "We have to match their intensity and limit their runs in another tough road atmosphere."
Recently, Ball State concluded its four-game road trip where they went 3-1, including a victory over 2018 Final Four team Loyola Chicago.
UPCOMING SCHEDULE
Saturday (Dec. 22), Coach Nickelberry and the Bison renew its longtime rivalry with Hampton in the next chapter of the Battle of the Real HU. Game-time is set for 5 p.m. inside the Entertainment and Sports Arena.
