Bison’s final road test in Norfolk

WASHINGTON (November 9, 2018) – After a big win versus Florida A&M, Coach Mike London and the Howard University football team travel to Norfolk, Va. where they will battle the Norfolk State Spartans in their final road test of the season. Kickoff is set for 1 p.m.
 
Fans can follow all the action via live stats and ESPN3.
 
Additionally, fans will have the ability to listen to the game live with play-by-play from Trevin A. Jones and his color analyst Tiffany Hoyd. Tune in to the WHBC96.3HD3; SiriusXM Channel 142; or Resident Network Channel 51 for all Bison football coverage. Pregame coverage starts at 12:45 p.m.

Saturday (Nov. 3), the Bison rebounded with a 31-23 victory over conference leader Florida A&M (FAMU) at Greene Stadium.
 
Despite giving up nearly 450 total yards offensively to the Rattlers, Howard's defense made stops down the stretch and held Florida A&M to only six points after intermission.
 
Offensively, the Bison racked up 420 total yards, including 247 on the ground. Sophomore tailback Dedrick Parson (Philadelphia) led the way with a game-high 149 yards and a TD.
 
Junior wideouts Kyle Anthony (Miramar, Fla.) and Jequez Ezzard (College Park, Ga.) each scored a TD while safety Tye Freeland (Petersburg, Va.) led the defense with nine tackles (eight solo), a forced fumble, and INT in the victory.
 
MATCHUP PREVIEW
 
ALL-TIME SERIES
 
Saturday's matchup will be the 25th meeting between Howard and Norfolk State with the Bison leading the all-time series, 18-6.
 
Last season, HU rallied with a fourth quarter TD and knocked off the Spartans, 28-24, at Greene Stadium. Quarterback Caylin Newton (Atlanta) scored the game-winning touchdown with five ticks remaining.
 
HOWARD
 
Entering Saturday, Howard (4-4, 4-2 MEAC) has won three of its last four games following a 31-23 home victory over Florida A&M in Washington, D.C.
 
HU boasts the most potent offense in the league, averaging 33 points per game. Parson ranks fourth in the MEAC with 556 yards and six touchdowns on the ground this season.
 
Newton paces the MEAC in passing yards (2,127), total yards (2,539) and passing touchdowns (18). Junior wide receiver Jequez Ezzard (College Park, Ga.) has a MEAC-high 814 receiving yards and nine touchdown catches.
 
NORFOLK STATE
 
For the Spartans (3-5, 1-4 MEAC), they are looking to break a two-game slide against HU. Norfolk State looks to finish the season on a high note with an opportunity for their first winning season since 2011.
 
UPCOMING SCHEDULE
 
Saturday (Nov. 17), Howard concludes the regular season with Bryant in a nonconference matchup. Kickoff is set for 1 p.m. at Greene Stadium on Senior Day.
