WASHINGTON (October 8, 2018) – After three consecutive matches at Greene Stadium, coach Phillip Gyau and the Howard University Men's Soccer team start a brief two-match road swing in Piscataway, N.J. where the Rutgers (RU) Scarlett Knights await. Tuesday's nonconference contest begins 7 p.m.

Saturday (Oct. 6), the Bison came up short in its Sun Belt Conference (SBC) opener versus Georgia Southern, 2-1, at Greene Stadium on Alumni Day.
 
Shortly after the break, senior Victor Guirma (New Paltz, N.Y.) tied the contest, 1-1, thanks to an assist from graduate student Joel Cunningham (Spanish Town, Jamaica).
 
Junior goalkeeper Carlos Caro (Silver Spring, Md.), reigning SBC Defensive Player of the Week, registered three saves in the loss.

HU (1-5-3) seeks to get back in the win column after a tough loss versus Georgia Southern. Throughout the season, Howard has rallied from early deficits, but unable to complete the comeback to seal the victory. Offensively, Guirma and junior Andres Gomez (Silver Spring, Md.) have led the Bison attack, combining for eight goals. Caro continues his dominance as the squad's goalkeeper, leading the SBC in total saves (38).
 
RUTGERS
 
Rutgers (2-8-1) enters Tuesday's showdown looking to snap a two-match skid. Jordan Hall leads the way, recording a team-best nine total goals. Defensively, Rafael Pereira has a save percentage of 57-percent with 40 total saves on the season.
