Phillip Gyau and the Howard University men's soccer team hung tough against St. Bonaventure, but a pair of scores within 90 seconds would down the Bison Wednesday night.
HU (2-8-3) had 11 shots, led by newcomer
Duncan Dunkwu (Germantown, Md.) with a match-high five attempts. Juniors
Javauni Garwood (Portmore, Jamaica) and
Daniel Hart (Silver Spring, Md.) each registered two tries in the loss.
After a scoreless first half, the Bonnies' Kosi Nwafornso scored and put St. Bonaventure ahead, 1-0.
Just over a minute later, Jacob Jashinski added to the Bonnies' lead, 2-0.
Defensively, junior
Carlos Caro (Silver Spring, Md.) collected five saves in a losing effort.
On Nov. 3, Howard closes out the regular season at Appalachian State. Match time is set for 7 p.m. in Boone, N.C.
