NORFOLK, Va. (October 22, 2018) – The Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) revealed its football weekly honors where Howard University sophomore defensive back
Bryan Cook (Cincinnati) and freshman linebacker
Zamon Robinson (Silver Spring, Md.) were recognized for their tremendous performances in the team's gutsy road win at Morgan State (MSU). The announcement came Monday afternoon.
Cook was selected Co-Defensive Player of the Week while Robinson took home the league's top rookie weekly award.
Cook kept Howard in the contest at MSU, causing a game-changing fumble on the Bison's one-yard line in the third quarter; thus, preventing the Bears from scoring. The Cincinnati native also recorded his first interception on the season, which he converted into a 41-yard touchdown in the win.
For Robinson, he finished with eight tackles (4 solo) along with a pair of tackles for loss and 1.5 sacks in the win over Morgan State. The Maryland product leads HU in total sacks, registering 5.5 sacks in six contests.
Sophomore tailback
Dedrick Parson (Philadelphia, Pa.) received honorable mention after leading Howard's ground attack with a career-high 148 rushing yards on 16 attempts. He scored two touchdowns, including the go-ahead touchdown with just seven minutes remaining to seal the victory over Morgan State.
A trio of North Carolina Central players earned weekly honors: Chauncey Caldwell (MEAC Offensive Player of the Week); Nick Leverett (MEAC Offensive Lineman of the Week); and Adam Lippy (MEAC Specialist of the Week).
Morgan State's Ian McBorrough earned MEAC Co-Defensive Player of the Week alongside Cook.
