WASHINGTON (January 19, 2018) – Coach
Nicholas Askew and the Howard University Women's Swimming & Diving team cruise past Marymount, 146-44, inside Burr Pool.
During the meet, Howard recognized its three seniors for their hard work and dedication in and out of the pool:
Danielle Brown;
Summer Lewis; and
Kayla Walker. All three seniors earned the HU Golden Goggle award, which is given to the most outstanding female swimmer.
Overall, the Bison placed first in all 13 events. In her final home meet, Brown won the women's 100-yard butterfly with a 1:01.79 mark while being part of two relay winning teams: 200-yard medley and 200-yard freestyle.
Walker clamed first place in the 500-yard freestyle (5:57.26).
Freshman
Chandler Carter earned the top spot in the women's 100-yard backstroke and 1000-yard freestyle.
Fellow classmate
Christian Nickolas took part in both diving events where she placed first overall.
Junior
Latroya Pina also won multiple events in the women's 100-yard breaststroke and 200-yard individual medley.
On Jan. 27, Howard concludes the regular season at crosstown foe Catholic University. Meet time is scheduled for 1 p.m.
