Howard seeks a pair of road wins

WASHINGTON (January 12, 2018) – Coach Ty Grace and the Howard University Women's Basketball team hit the road for a pair of conference games at South Carolina State (Jan. 13) and Savannah State (Jan. 15).
 
Saturday's matchup at the Lady Bulldogs start 2 p.m. while Monday night's showdown takes place at 6 p.m.

MATCHUP PREVIEW
 
HOWARD
 
Howard (4-11, 0-2 MEAC) enters the weekend looking to bounce back from a tough home loss versus Bethune-Cookman, 59-55. HU continues its search for their first road win of the season (0-8). Sophomore Sarah Edmond leads the Bison in scoring (13.7 ppg), which ranks sixth in the conference. Defensively, sophomore Jayla Myles sits fifth in the league with 1.5 blocks per contests while grabbing a team-leading 5.3 boards per game.
 
SOUTH CAROLINA STATE
 
South Carolina State (5-9 overall, 0-2 MEAC) looks to snap a four-game losing skid while seeking their first conference win of the season. Graduate guard Bryeasha Blair leads the SC State women in scoring (12.6 ppg). She is supported by juniors Kyeshia Lewis and Kemoni Jenkins, each averaging 10.3 points per contest.
 
SAVANNAH STATE
 
Saturday (Jan. 13), the Savannah State Lady Tigers (2-11, 0-2 MEAC) host Maryland Eastern Shore after coming off an eight-game road swing. Junior forward Kaylee Allen leads SSU with 13.3 points per game and averages 4.6 rebounds, while junior guard Donasja Scott averages 11.3 points and 6.2 rebounds.
 
LAST TIMEOUT

Last Saturday (Jan. 6), the Bison came up short versus Bethune-Cookman in overtime, 59-55. The contest was held on the campus of Trinity Washington University.
 
Sophomore Sarah Edmond led all scorers with 24 points in 41 minutes of action. Senior Tajzhane Dopson registered 10 points after shooting perfect from the floor (4-of-4).

UPCOMING SCHEDULE

HU returns to The Burr where North Carolina Central and North Carolina A&T State await.
 
Saturday's showdown versus the Lady Eagles start 2 p.m. whereas Monday's clash begins 5:30 p.m.
