CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (September 8, 2017) – Howard Volleyball opened the Jefferson Cup with a 3-1 loss against Ohio (19-25, 25-17, 21-25, 23-25).
Despite a higher hitting percentage (.256), HU could not swing the match in their favor.
Khaila Donaldson had a match-best 18 kills and nine digs.
Tamia Dockery produced a double-double with 39 assists and 11 digs in the loss.
After dropping the first set, 19-25, HU rebounded and tied the match after a 25-17 victory in set two.
Sets three and four went back-and-forth; however, the Bobcats were able to get the upper hand to take the match.
Defensively,
Fola Wilson provided 15 digs whereas
Olubunmi Okunade added six blocks (two solo) in a losing effort.
For Ohio (6-3), Tia Jimerson recorded a team-high 17 kills. Lizzie Stephens manufactured a double-double, 16 kills and 14 digs, and Sara Januszewski added 12 kills in the victory.
Tomorrow (Sept. 9), the Bison concludes its trip with Virginia and VCU. First-serve is set for 11:30 a.m. versus the Cavaliers, followed by a date with the Rams at 5 p.m.
