MATCHUP PREVIEW
After their matchup with the Retrievers, Howard hosts the Zhejiang (China) Volleyball Club Team in an exhibition. The final match before conference play will take place inside Burr Gymnasium.
UMBC holds a 21-5 advantage over Howard, however, the Bison have won the last two, including a four set win in D.C. last season.
UMBC (7-6) is coming off an impressive showing at the George Washington Tournament over the weekend. The squad dropped a five-set match with Delaware to begin the tournament Friday, but battled back to earn a split on the day as they took down Holy Cross in four sets. They would end the tournament by sweeping the host George Washington on Saturday afternoon. Freshman Carmen Freeman received tournament MVP honors while senior Ashley Ramos earned All-Tournament Team recognition.
Howard (2-11) looks to snap a four-match skid and build momentum going into league play. Offensively, Donaldson has recorded 183 total kills on the season. Junior
Tamia Dockery, reigning MEAC Setter of the Week, leads the squad with 485 assists and 131 digs. Last weekend, Dalton was named to the D.C. Classic All-Tournament Team whereas Porter claimed MEAC Player of the Week honors for her efforts at the Jefferson Cup.
UPCOMING SCHEDULE
HU opens conference play on the road at Maryland Eastern Shore (Sept. 29), followed by a home date with Delaware State (Oct. 1). Friday night's match starts at 7 p.m. while Sunday matinee begins 3 p.m.
