Box Score WASHINGTON, D.C. – With less than six minutes remaining, senior
Whitney White delivered the go-ahead goal and lifted the Howard Bison past George Mason, 1-0, at Greene Stadium.
With the victory, HU picked up its first win of the season while knocking off the Patriots for the first time in program history.
Despite being outshot, 20-3, Howard continued to battle and kept the Patriots off the board.
White made her lone opportunity count for the Bison.
Hollie Cartwright and
I-sis Wilson each took a shot in the win.
After a scoreless first half, both squads were unable to put a dent into the board until
Kendall Hamilton assisted White with the late goal heroics.
Defensively,
Gabrielle Emilien registered a match-best six saves in the victory.
For George Mason (0-3), Abby Downey took a match-high six shots while Nia Elbeck and Erin Mitchell each produced three shots in a losing effort.
Next Sunday (Sept. 3), HU (1-3) concludes its three-match home stretch with Robert Morris. Match is scheduled for 3 p.m. at Green Stadium.
