Box Score WASHINGTON, D.C. – The Howard Women's Soccer team dropped their home opener versus Mount St. Mary's, 4-1, at Greene Stadium.
Kela Gray led the Bison attack, taking four shots; however,
Whitney White came away with HU's lone goal.
More than seven minutes into the match, White scored on a header, thanks to an assist from
Priscilla Ayala, and gave HU an early 1-0 advantage.
Nearly 20 minutes later, The Mount's Jenna West responded and tied the contest before intermission, 1-1.
Shortly after halftime, Jaylyn Chandler put Mount St. Mary's ahead, 2-1, followed by two more goals from West and Sarah Kajdasz, 4-1.
On the defensive end, goalkeepers
Gabrielle Emilien and
Alayah Hightower combined for 10 saves in the loss.
West led the way for Mount St. Mary's (2-1), scoring twice and assisting on another.
HU (0-3) continues its home-stand when George Mason comes to town. Sunday night's (Aug. 27) matchup begins at 7 p.m.
