GREENSBORO, N.C. – The Howard University softball team was shutout by Appalachian State, 11-0, in five innings on Saturday at the Aggie Invitational, hosted on the campus of North Carolina A&T.
With the loss, the Bison dropped to 0-3 while the Mountaineers improved to 3-4.
Alex Flynn was charged with the setback, having pitched 2.1 innings in which she allowed three hits and three runs (two earned). Alexa Walker and Monica Thompson let in four runs each.
Deja Henderson tallied a team-best two hits, followed by Imani Ballard with a hit.
Appalachian tallied runs in each inning, including four in the top of the third.
Howard closes the Aggie Invitational on Sunday, Feb. 19 against Valparaiso at 8 a.m.
