Howard Looks to Win Second Straight

Washington, DC---As the regular season winds down and the tournament is right around the corner, the Howard men's basketball team is hoping to use Monday's win over Morgan State as a momentum builder.

The Bison (6-20, 3-8 in the MEAC) host North Carolina A&T on Saturday at 4 pm in Burr Gymnasium. The two teams met back in January in Greensboro, NC and Howard prevailed 78-63.

The Bison got an outstanding all-around effort from James "JT" Miller in the victory over the Bears. Miller poured in a game-high 27 points, 19 coming in the second half, to snap a six-game losing streak with a gutty 70-67 win.

Miller, a 6-5 red-shirt junior guard from Clinton, NC, scored in a variety of ways from high-flying dunks to an occasional outside bomb to getting into the lane and drawing fouls on defenders.

His efforts were complemented by freshman guard Charles "CJ" Williams, who scored 15 points, senior guard Damon Collins (10 points, 6 assists) and senior reserve forward Tyler Stone (4 points, 5 rebounds, 2 blocked shots) off the bench.

Howard will need a similar effort from Miller and cast if they are to win their second home conference game of the season and make a move down the stretch. The Aggies (2-24, 0-12 in the MEAC) have struggled all season and have had problems scoring points. They have played better of late although it has not resulted in wins. They are hungry for their first MEAC win.

The Aggies are led by red-shirt junior guard Sam Hunt (team-leading 13 points per game) and junior reserve forward Davaris McGowens (9.6 ppg, 7.4 rebounds).
