WASHINGTON (November 4, 2017) – Howard Women's Swimming & Diving team came up short Friday night as they dropped a close meet against Mount St. Mary's, 117-106, at Burr Pool.
Leanne McMaster took home the team's Golden Goggles, HU's most outstanding female performer of the meet, after anchoring the women's 400-yard medley relay. McMaster joined Kasandra Kaplan, Latroya Pina, and Dede Fobbs in the event where they placed first with a 4:05.61 mark, the fifth fastest time in program history.
McMaster also claimed the top spot in the women's 50-yard freestyle (25.54), followed by Andreas Weech (25.84).
Furthermore, Weech earned a victory in the women's 100-yard freestyle (57.14) while Kaplan won the women's 100-yard backstroke.
Latroya Pina won the women's 200-yard individual medley, posting a 2:18.58 time.
Christian Nickolas continues her dominance in the 1-meter dive, winning the event with a score of 246.65.
HU ended the night with another win in the women's 400-yard freestyle, led by McMaster, Fobbs, Kaplan, and Danni Brown.
Saturday, the Bison host Virginia Military Institute (VMI). First race is set for 1 p.m. at Burr Pool.
