NORFOLK, Va. (November 3, 2017) – Howard University Women's Volleyball team dropped the first set against Norfolk State (NSU), but rallied to win in four (23-25, 25-21, 25-17, 25-18).
Seniors Jessica Young and Khaila Donaldson led the way, combining for 23 kills. Young had a team-best 12 kills while producing a .600 hitting percentage. Donaldson registered 11 kills, along with four digs and three aces in the victory.
HU dropped the first set after hitting a match-low .120, including eight attack errors.
In the second set, Howard rebounded with a .457 hitting percentage and tied the match.
After intermission, the Bison eclipsed a .261 hitting percentage while the Spartans registered a -.034 with 10 attack errors.
Despite six attack errors in set four, Howard recorded a .281 hitting percentage to win the match in four.
Junior Tamia Dockery had a team-high 28 assists, six digs, and six kills. Defensively, senior Carlise Cardoza manufactured a match-best 16 digs while sophomore Kira Porter added five total blocks in the win.
For NSU (3-21, 0-10 MEAC), Hope Forsythe had a match-best 15 kills while Clarke Tyler added 10 kills in a losing effort.
Sunday, the Bison (12-14, 8-2 MEAC) square off against Hampton in the Battle of the Real HU. Match time slated for 3 p.m.
