WASHINGTON (October 15, 2017) – Howard University Women's Volleyball team extended its streak after taking down the Norfolk State Spartans in straight sets (25-19, 25-12, 25-13) at Burr Gymnasium. The victory gives HU a six-match winning streak.
Senior
Khaila Donaldson and
Jessica Young led the way, finishing with 13 kills each. Junior
Tamia Dockery provided 29 assists in the victory.
Howard produced a .400 hitting percentage in set one, compared to the Spartans hitting under .000.
In set two, the Bison's momentum continued as they racked up 11 kills while hitting .360.
Norfolk State committed eight errors in the third set whereas HU generated 11 kills to close out the match.
Defensively,
Carlise Cardoza and
Fola Wilson each registered seven digs in the win.
For NSU, they posted a -.108 hitting percentage. Hope Forsythe had nine assists in the losing effort.
After today's match, the Bison held a one-hour FREE clinic for Sunday's theme: Scholastic Day.
HU (8-13, 5-1 MEAC) continues its home stretch with a pair of conference foes.
Friday, the Bison host Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Southern division-leading Bethune-Cookman on Alumni Night. Match time is 7 p.m.
Sunday, Howard takes on Coppin State in a rematch. First-serve at 3 p.m.
