ATLANTA (October 14, 2017) – After consecutive matches ending in a draw, the Howard University Men's Soccer team was unable to keep Georgia State (GSU) off the board as they fell on the road, 3-0.
HU took eight shots overall, led by
Joel Cunningham and
Kyle Celestine attempting two tries each.
Only 34 ticks into the contest, Georgia State's Lukas Joyner scored on an empty net and put the Panthers ahead, 1-0.
At the 40-minute mark, GSU's Hannes Burmeister increased the Panthers' advantage before intermission, 2-0.
Georgia State's Frank Rosenwald added an insurance goal with five minutes remaining, 3-0.
HU returns to D.C. for a pair of contests, starting Wednesday versus Navy. Match time is set for 7 p.m. at Greene Stadium.
