WASHINGTON (October 1, 2017) – Howard Women's Volleyball picked up its first conference win of the season by sweeping the Delaware State (DSU) Hornets (25-12, 25-11, 25-17).
With the victory, HU improved to 3-13 (1-1 MEAC) on the season.
Senior Khaila Donaldson led the way with a double-double, 11 kills and 11 digs.
Kira Porter and
Jessica Young each registered a match-high 12 kills in the win.
Howard eclipsed a .350 hitting percentage and controlled the first two sets.
Delaware State fought back in set three, hitting .121, but HU could not be slowed down as they recorded a .351 hitting percentage to close out the match.
Junior
Tamia Dockery had a match-best 39 assists while
Jurnee Tipton added eight kills and eight digs.
Defensively,
Fola Wilson recorded 14 digs in the victory.
For DSU (0-15, 0-1 MEAC), Sydney Armbrister and Kiera Holtzclaw posted five kills in the loss.
HU hosts nearby George Washington in their nonconference finale. Tuesday's match is 7 p.m.
Wednesday, Howard hits the road to Baltimore to resume conference play at Morgan State. First serve at 7 p.m.
