WASHINGTON, D.C. – The Howard men's and women's swimming and diving teams opened the 2016-17 season at the Potomac Relay Invitational, hosted by American University at Frailey Pool on Friday afternoon.
George Mason topped the men's side with 122 points, followed by Georgetown (76) and Howard (56). The Patriots also won for the women behind 126 points. Georgetown and American tied for second with 72 points, while Howard finished fourth on 58 points.
HIGHLIGHTS – WOMEN
- 3rd place finish in the 200 medley relay with KaSandra Kaplan, Latroya Pina, Danni Brown and Susanna Reese (1:55.30)
- Akesha Minnifee-Cox, Leanne McMaster and Pina were third in the 300 breaststroke relay (3:36.06)
- Brown and Kayla Walker were third in the 1,000 freestyle relay (11:35.65)
- Leanne McMaster, Andreas Weech, Paris Phillips and Reese swam to third place in the 200 freestyle relay (1:42.19)
HIGHLIGHTS – MEN
- 2nd place finish in 200 medley relay with Don Brazelton, Farion Cooper, Alexander Barnes and TJ Miller (1:39.84)
- Barnes, Copper, Brazelton and Miller also finished second in the 200 freestyle relay (1:28.87)
- Barnes, Jonathan Hill and Miller swam to third in the 300 butterfly relay (2:42.17)
- Miller and Hill joined Mensa Eggleston to place third in the 300 breaststroke relay (3:19.31)
- Nick Haughton and Hill were third in the 1,000 freestyle relay (10:49.40)
