BALTIMORE, Md. – The Howard volleyball team is headed up I-95 to continue Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) play against Morgan State on Thursday, Sept. 29. First serve is set for 7 p.m.
Howard went 2-0 to kick off its conference schedule last weekend with wins over Maryland Eastern Shore and Delaware State. Senior Katherine Broussard tallied her 1,000th career dig last Friday against the Hawks.
The Bison have won eight of their last 10 matches and sits atop the Northern Division with a 12-5 overall record. Howard is the only team in the MEAC that has recorded double digits in the win column.
Senior Morgan Marlbrough currently ranks third in program history behind 1,169 digs. She needs just three more digs to move into second. Junior Khaila Donaldson stands fourth in the history books with 1,049 kills.
Donaldson leads the Bison and the MEAC in numerous categories. She is first in kills/set (3.98), points/set (4.86), kills (251) and points (295). Her total points and kills marks rank 9th and 18th, respectively, in the NCAA DI national standings.
Sophomore Tamia Dockery also tops the conference with 9.53 assists/set and 591 total assists. Marlbrough stands fourth in digs/set (4.19), while sophomore Olubunmi Okunade checks in at No. 1 with 1.26 blocks/set and 54 total blocks.
As a team, Howard is at the head of the MEAC rankings in assists/set (11.29), blocks/set (2.29) and kills/set (12.19). The team has also held its opponents to a league-best .148 hitting percentage.
The Bison hold a 30-36 mark in the all-time series against the Bears. MSU has a 2-14 (2-0 MEAC) record after it picked up its first wins of the season against Hampton and Norfolk State last weekend. The two teams split last year's meetings with both coming away with 3-1 victories.
