SOUTH BEND, Ind. – The Howard volleyball team dropped its first match of the season to No. 24 Purdue, 3-0 (14-25, 20-25, 20-25), on opening day of the Shamrock Invitational on Friday. With the loss, the Bison are 4-1 while Purdue moves to 3-1.
Junior Khaila Donaldson paced the Bison with 11 kills and five digs. Sophomore Tamia Dockery dished 20 assists, while senior Katherine Broussard tallied six kills. On the defensive end, Senior Morgan Marlbrough had a team-best 11 digs.
The Bison stayed close to the Boilermakers to start each set but couldn't hold on towards the end. The match also featured 11 ties and seven lead changes.
Howard will try to bounce back tomorrow at 12:30 p.m. against Notre Dame before closing the tournament against Coastal Carolina at 4:30 p.m.
