FAIRFAX, Va. – The Howard women's soccer team hits the road to face George Mason on Thursday, Sept. 1 at 7 p.m. in George Mason Stadium.

The Bison (2-0-1) are off to their best start since 2001, which was the first winning season (10-8) in school history.

Howard fought hard to come away with a 2-1 win over Longwood on Sunday. Freshman Hollie Cartwright scored the game-winner and helped her nab the Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) Offensive Player of the Week honor. Sophomore goalie Mackenzie Diotte picked up Goalkeeper of the Week recognition after making nine saves in Howard's 1-0-1 weekend.

George Mason (3-1-0) has won its last two games, including a 3-0 shutout against Towson last weekend. The Patriots have six players with at least one goal thus far. The team is led by Nicolette Herdegen with four points on two goals.
