WASHINGTON, D.C. – The Howard University women's soccer team is making its first road trip to visit Mount St. Mary's (Md.) on Friday at 4 p.m. The Bison will head back to the nation's capital to host Longwood on Sunday at 1 p.m. at Greene Stadium.
The Bison (1-0) are coming off a successful season opener last Friday, where they defeated Cleveland State, 2-1, behind goals from Noelle McCullom and Anna Mitchell. The team also played Radford on Sunday but the game was ruled no contest due to severe weather.
Mount St. Mary's (0-1) fell to Loyola, 3-1, to open its season. Noelle DeFede tallied the lone goal for her team, which also happened to be the rookie's first collegiate points. The Mountaineers own a 7-4-2 advantage over Howard in the all-time series and bested the Bison in two of the last three outings. The Bison won last year's meeting by a 7-1 margin at home.
Longwood is off to a 0-1 start after being shut out by Richmond, 3-0, last week. The Lancers will face Marshall on Friday before coming to see the Bison. When the two teams met last year, Howard dropped a 1-0 decision in Farmville, Va.
