WASHINGTON, D.C. – The Howard University men's soccer team will open its 2016 season on the road with a pair of matches. The Bison will visit Liberty on Friday at 7 p.m. before traveling to face Pittsburgh on Sunday at 7 p.m.
Head coach Phillip Gyau is heading into his third season at the helm. The Bison finished the 2015 campaign with an overall record of 0-17-2 and 0-5 mark in the Sun Belt. Howard has 15 returners and 17 newcomers taking the field this season. The Bison were selected sixth in the Sun Belt Conference Preseason Poll.
This will be the ninth straight season that Howard and Liberty have faced off. The Flames hold an 8-6 all-time advantage over the Bison and has won all eight matches between the two teams since the series resumed in 2008, including last season's 2-1 victory.
Howard and Pitt have met on the pitch a total of nine times. The Panthers lead the all-time series, 5-3, with the last meeting coming in 2014.
