Washington, DC--- Howard University got a balanced scoring attack as four players finished in double figures but it was Amber Howard who proved to be the difference as South Carolina State edged Howard, 65-63 in a Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference women's game at Burr Gymnasium. 

The Bison (5-21, 3-11 in the MEAC) led most of the game until the Lady Bulldogs made a late push to tie the game at 55 with four minutes left. 

Ashleigh Outler Toni Grier and Jasmine Coleman combined to keep the game close. 

Howard countered with Erin Blaine and Imani Bailey in the seesaw battle. 

Howard, who finished with a game-high 17 hit a big three pointer and then nailed two free throws during a 40-second span. Grier would add a field goal on a pass from Howard and Outler converted on one of two free throws to close out the scoring as the Bison never scored again. 

Bailey finished with 15 and 5 rebounds, Jasmine Hill and Victoria Gonzales with a double double (13 points, 11 rebounds) and Te'Shya Heslip with 10 points and 8 assists. 

SC State (11-13, 7-7 in the MEAC) held a big advantage on the boards (46-34). 

NEXT UP: Howard will close out the home regular season when it entertains Florida A&M on Wednesday at 5:30. It will be Senior Night for the members of the team who will be playing their last game in The Burr.
