Washington, DC—The Howard University men's basketball team will try to rebound from a disappointing home loss on Saturday when it hosts South Carolina State at 7:30 pm in Burr Gymnasium. It has been designated Organization Night for on-campus student groups and organizations. 

Howard (11-16, 5-7 in the MEAC) got 24 points from James "J-Byrd" Daniel, III but little else as the Bison trailed almost the entire game against the Tigers of Savannah State. 

Howard did not shoot the ball well and could never get into their uptempo game against the Tigers, who lead the MEAC in scoring defense. 

With four games remaining in the regular season, Howard needs a win desperately as they have dropped six of its last seven. 

It will not be an easy task. The Bulldogs (15-10, 10-3 in the MEAC) are arguably the biggest surprise of the season in the MEAC. SC State defeated UMES on the road on Saturday and has won five of its last six. 

The Bulldogs have been able to do it with a balanced attack, led by Eric Eaves (16.7 points per game). Eaves, Gabriel McCray and Darryl Palmer all shoot almost 50 percent from the field while Ed Stephens is their designated three point shooter and Ty Soloman is the distributor (four assists per game). 

The Bison will have to avoid foul trouble. In the game against Savannah State, Marcel Boyd (9.0 points per game, 9.3 rebounds per game) and Damon Collins (10.3 points per game) both got into early foul trouble before eventually fouling out. 

A saving grace for the Bison all season has been their free throw shooting. They have converted on 74 percent on the season, including an average of 85 percent in the past four games.
