PRAIRIE VIEW, Texas – The No. 1 Howard women's soccer team saw its season come to an end in the semifinals of the 2016 Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) Tournament after a hard fought battle with No. 4 Arkansas-Pine Bluff that ended in penalty kicks on Friday afternoon.
Senior Sandra Bond scored the only goal for the Bison during penalty kicks, which resulted in a 3-1 shootout victory for the Golden Lions.
Junior Gabrielle Emilien kept UAPB off the board during regulation and the first overtime period as she made eight saves. Classmate Kela Gray had a game-high four shots, including three on goal.
The Bison conclude the season with a 13-5-2 overall record and the SWAC's regular season crown.
