Women's Basketball Set For Cornell

ITHACA, N.Y. – The Howard women's basketball team will play its fourth road game of the season when it visits Cornell on Tuesday night. Tip is set for 7 p.m. in Newman Arena.

The Bison (0-3) is looking for its first win of the season after falling to Michigan on Friday. Redshirt senior Te'Shya Heslip had 10 points, five rebounds and four steals, while rookie Jayla Myles grabbed a career-high seven boards in the loss.

Heslip made the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Honor Roll for her performance against Michigan and No. 21/25 West Virginia. Heslip totaled a season-high 25 points, four rebounds, four assists and two steals when Howard played the Mountaineers. She also scored 51 percent of Howard's points in the 95-49 loss and sank 9-of-12 free throws.

Heslip has reached double figures in scoring in each game thus far to average a team-high 19.3 points, which ranks third in the MEAC. She is shooting 34.5 percent (19-of-55) from the floor and 77.8 percent (14-of-18) from the free throw line.

Cornell (3-1) suffered its first loss of the season on a 68-63 setback to Towson over the weekend. The Big Red had three players in double digits, led by Megan LeDuc with 15 points.

When the two teams met last season, Howard held off Cornell in Burr Gymnasium for a 76-74 victory. The Big Red has a 2-1 lead in the all-time series against the Bison. This is the fourth consecutive season that Howard and Cornell have faced each other.
