ANN ARBOR, Mich. – The Howard women's basketball team is headed to the Great Lakes State to battle Michigan on Friday, Nov. 18 at 7 p.m. in the Crisler Center.
Howard (0-2) is looking to bounce back from a 95-49 setback to No. 21 West Virginia on Tuesday night. Once again, senior Te'Shya Heslip led the Bison with a season-high 25 points. She accounted for 51 percent of Howard's total points and made 9-of-12 free throws. Redshirt junior Erin Blaine and rookie Star Fitzgerald-Greer pulled down five rebounds apiece. The Bison shot 32.0 percent (16-of-50) from the field and 58.3 percent (14-of-24) from the charity stripe.
Through two games, Heslip is tied for first in the conference with 24.0 points per game and leads the MEAC in assists per game (6.5). As a team, Howard stands second in the league in free throw percentage (.737) after connecting on 28-of-38 attempts.
Friday's game will be the first-ever meeting between Howard and Michigan. The Wolverines (2-0) had six players in double figures, paced by Katelynn Flaherty with 14 points, in Sunday's 107-35 win over Niagara.
