WASHINGTON, D.C. – The Howard volleyball team is set for its final road match of the regular season with a midweek visit to Norfolk State on Wednesday, Nov. 2 at 6 p.m. in Gill Gymnasium.
The Bison are coming off a pair of straight-set wins last weekend against NSU and Hampton. On Sunday, the team clinched the 2016 MEAC Northern Division crown thanks to its perfect 10-0 conference record. Also, senior Morgan Marlbrough was tabbed as the MEAC Defensive Specialist of the Week for the sixth time this season.
Howard is 21-5 overall and owns the third longest home winning streak at 16 matches. The squad has not dropped a MEAC match since Oct. 2, 2015 and has won 24 straight league outings for the fifth longest conference win streak.
Howard has been consistent in restricting its opponent's offense this season. The Bison moved up from the No. 3 spot in the NCAA Division I rankings to lead the country in limiting opponent's hitting percentage, holding the opposition to a .128 efficiency.
Junior Khaila Donaldson ranks among the nation's best in several statistical categories, including 30th in points (428.5), 37th in points per set (4.66), 37th in total kills (368) and 49th in kills per set (4.00).
Sophomore Tamia Dockery's 880 total assists and 9.78 assists per set are the top marks in the MEAC. Marlbrough leads the conference with 379 total digs, while her 4.12 digs per set is third.
NSU currently owns a 4-5 MEAC record and a 6-17 overall mark. Howard has won seven in a row over the Spartans to extend its all-time series lead to 17-5. With a victory on Wednesday, the Bison will have swept the series each of the last four years.
