WASHINGTON, D.C. – The Howard volleyball team is set to hit the road for a pair of Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) matches this weekend. The Bison will start with rival Hampton on Friday, Oct. 7 at 6 p.m. before visiting Norfolk State on Sunday, Oct. 9 at 3 p.m.
HU is headed into the weekend with a 14-5 overall record and 4-0 mark in the MEAC. The squad is the only team in the conference with double digits in the win column and the only undefeated team in the Northern Division.
Junior Khaila Donaldson leads the conference in six categories and ranks 47th in kills per set (4.03), 17th in points (324), 23rd in total kills (278) and 41st in points/set (4.70) among the national Division I standings. Sophomore Tamia Dockery tops the league with 9.65 assists/set and 656 total assists, which also ranks 38th nationally. Senior Morgan Marlbrough has 4.19 digs/set to stand third in the MEAC while her 289 total digs is the best mark in the conference. Junior Carlise Cardoza is third with 23 service aces.
As a team, Howard holds the top spot in the MEAC in 10 different categories, including assists/set (11.41), blocks/set (2.28) and kills/set (12.33).
Hampton (3-12) and Norfolk State (3-13) are currently tied for fourth-place with 2-2 MEAC records. Howard swept the Pirates in last year's home-and-home series and did not lose a set in its pair of wins over the Spartans.
