WASHINGTON, D.C. – The Howard volleyball team (17-5) will play a pair of matches this week beginning with visiting Maryland Eastern Shore (13-10) on Friday, Oct. 21 at 6 p.m. before hosting Delaware State (0-22) on Sunday, Oct. 23 at 3 p.m.
The Bison are heading into the weekend on a seven-game win streak and holding the top spot in the Northern Division with a 6-0 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) record. Most recently, Howard defeated Bethune-Cookman in four sets and swept away Coppin State.
After another impressive weekend, junior Khaila Donaldson was named MEAC Co-Player of the Week, while senior Morgan Marlbrough was tabbed as Defensive Specialist of the Week. Sophomore Tamia Dockery rounded out the trio as Co-Setter of the Week.
Donaldson ranks among the nation's best in multiple statistical categories, including 51st in kills per set (3.99), 39th in points per set (4.63), 30th in total kills (315) and 27th in points (366).
Dockery leads the MEAC with 9.79 assists per set and 754 total assists, while Marlbough has a league-best 325 digs.
Howard has been effective at stifling its opponent's offense this season, holding the opposition to a 0.134 hitting percentage, which stands third in the nation.
UMES sits second in the Northern Division standings on a 6-1 conference mark. Howard is the only team that has handed the Hawks a loss in MEAC play thanks to a three-set sweep in Burr Gym back in September.
DSU is still looking for its first victory of the season and holds a 0-7 league record. When the Bison visited the Hornets earlier in the year, Howard took a 3-1 win back to the nation's capital.
