PRAIRIE VIEW, Texas – The Howard women's soccer team blanked Prairie View A&M, 2-0, on Friday night at the PVAMU Soccer Complex.
With the victory, the Bison are 9-4-2 overall and 6-0-1 in the Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC).
Howard overpowered the Panthers, 22-8, in shots and did not give up a corner kick.
Junior goalkeeper Gabrielle Emilien made a pair of saves for her third shutout of the season. Classmate Noelle McCullom had a team-high four shots, followed by three attempts from rookie Hollie Cartwright and senior Sara Vaughan.
Junior Kela Gray scored the game-winner in the 28th minute after she got open in the box and delivered a straight shot past the keeper to go up 1-0.
McCullom posted the insurance goal with less than six minutes to go in the game. Gray set her up with a cross through the box and McCullom finished it off with a powerful strike for the final 2-0 tally. It was her fourth goal in the last three outings.
The Bison are back in action on Sunday, Oct. 16 against Texas Southern at 2 p.m. ET.
