WASHINGTON, D.C. – The Howard women's soccer team is picking up where it left off as it jumps back into SWAC play with an 8 p.m. ET outing against Prairie View A&M on Friday, Oct. 14. The Bison will stay on the road to face Texas Southern on Sunday, Oct. 16 at 2 p.m. ET.
HU dropped its final non-conference game of the season to Navy, 2-1, on Tuesday night. Junior Noelle McCullom tallied her fifth goal of the 2016 campaign on a penalty kick. The Bison have an 8-4-2 overall record.
Junior Kela Gray ranks first in the conference in shots (37) and is in a three-way tie along with McCullom for eighth in points (10). Classmate Gabrielle Emilien has a 0.72 goals against average and .872 save percentage. Both totals are the best in the SWAC.
PVAM (2-9-0) is coming off a 1-1 tie with Mississippi Valley State on Sunday. The Panthers are sitting sixth with a 2-2-1 league record. When Howard and PVAM played each other last year, the Panthers clinched a 1-0 victory in double overtime.
TSU (7-5-1) is riding a three-game win streak, having recently beaten MVSU and Alcorn State last weekend. The Bison grabbed a 2-0 win last season when the Tigers made the trip to the nation's capital. TSU is tied with the Howard for first-place in the SWAC standings as both teams hold a 5-0-1 record.
