ANNAPOLIS, MD --- In its final contest before the beginning of Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) play, the Howard women's soccer team conceded a 5-1 result to the United States Naval Academy on Tuesday afternoon at the Glenn Warner Soccer Facility.
Howard's lone score against Navy came from senior
Rasheeda Ansari, who scored her fourth goal in as many games in the 38th minute. Unfortunately, the Bison (4-4) were nearly outshot 2-to-1 (27 to 15) and were unable to capitalize on the other opportunities they did have in the game.
Through the first eight games of the season, Howard has been feast or famine in terms of its record: the Bison are 4-0 at home with a 29-4 goal advantage and 0-4 on the road with a 16-3 goal deficit.
Despite the loss, Howard will enter its second season of league play in much better shape than it did during the 2014 campaign - HU was able to capture last season's regular season crown with a 9-1 record after entering SWAC competition with a 1-7-1 mark.
NEXT UPHoward will look to end its road losing streak with a matchup against Alabama State on Friday, September 25 at 8 p.m. Eastern.
