VILLANOVA, PA --- In its opening match of the Villanova University Classic, the Howard women's volleyball team suffered a 3-0 defeat against the James Madison University Dukes on Friday evening at Nevin Field House.

-Â Â Freshman outside hitter Courtney Dalton led Howard (2-8) with eight kills, the first time she has paced the Bison in the category.
-Â Â Freshman setter Tamia Dockery (12) & junior settter Briana Jackson (11) posted double digit assists together for the sixth time in 10 games.
-Â Â Junior libero Morgan Marlbrough has recorded 10 or more digs in all but two games this season, including 10 on Friday against JMU (6-2).
-Â Â In a competitve set two, Howard rallied from five points down (6-1) to tie things up twice (13-13 and 21-21) before conceding the point.
-Â Â Howard was held without a single player reaching double-digit kills for only the third time in 10 games this season-Â Â The Bison struggled hitting as a collective unit against JMU, managing only 28 kills and a .019 hitting percentage (second-lowest of season).
