WASHINGTON, DC --- The Howard women's volleyball team will spend the weekend in Philadelphia, PA as the team competes in the Villanova University Classic on September 11-12.
The two-day invitational will feature Howard, Villanova, James Madison University and Siena College. The Bison will face JMU on Friday, September 11 at 5 p.m. and play two matches on Saturday - vs Nova at 1 p.m. and Siena at 5 p.m.
FAST FACTS - VILLANOVA CLASSIC- Â Â The Villanova Classic is the third of four invitationals the Bison are competing in during the 2015 season. Howard opened the season at the DC Volleyball Challenge and co-hosted the District of Columbia Classic last weekend. HU will compete in the Rutgers University Invitational next weekend (September 18-19).
-Â Â Howard received a personnel boost on Tuesday when junior outside hitter Katherine Broussard made her season debut. Broussard made an immediate impact, notching a double double of 10 kills and 11 digs.
-Â Â The Bison have been led this season by sophomore outside hitter Khaila Donaldson. The Vernon Hills, IL native paces Howard in kills (109; 3.21/set) and points (128; 3.76/set). She is 5th and 6th in the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) in kills and points respectively.
-Â Â Other statistical leaders for Howard include junior setter Briana Jackson (210 assists; 6.18/set - 8th in MEAC; 16 service aces; 0.47/set - 2nd in MEAC); junior libero Morgan Marlbrough (149 digs; 4.38/set - 3rd in MEAC) and junior outside hitter Dominique Cleggett (.305 hitting % - 4th in MEAC).
